How can I benefit from working with a coach?

Wellness coaching includes a variety of health ambitions, including but not limited to: improved sleep, reduced stress, weight management, targeted exercise, individualized nutrition, improved life satisfaction, and time management relevant to mind and body health. A few possible reasons an individual may choose to work with a wellness coach might include:

  • Quick fixes you have tried in the past don’t seem to have lasting effects.

  • You want to be in more control of your own wellness process and learn how to truly love your body.

  • Setting attainable health goals and overcoming obstacles is challenging, and you don’t know where to start.

As a wellness coach, my aim is to assist you in making progress toward long-term health by helping to break down big goals into smaller realistic, and attainable steps. As each small step is accomplished, you build momentum toward attaining your ultimate goal. I will keep you on track by helping you to anticipate and deal with barriers. Minor missteps when working toward your goals are completely normal, but I will support you and help get you back on track in event of an unexpected setback.

What wellness coaching is not?

Although wellness coaches are trained to discuss nearly every topic related to your health, there are many circumstances where seeking help from another qualified professional would be in your best interest. If you are currently working with a doctor, therapist, or any other professional and need help with reaching the goals you have set with them, I can certainly be there for you. In fact, building a personal team of health practitioners who complement each other and help you work toward optimal health is the preferable and most effective approach. There may be times when your needs are outside of the scope of wellness coaching, and in those scenarios, I may refer you to another professional.

In what areas can wellness coaching help?

Wellness coaching includes practically anything related to health or well-being. Whatever in your life is affecting your ability to live as you would like, I will work with you to uncover and navigate through those obstacles to make way for the changes you desire — as stated above, I will also work to guide you to another health professional if your needs fall outside my scope of work. Totally acceptable topics of discussion during our coaching sessions may include but are not limited to:

  • Creating sustainable healthy habits and behaviors

  • Healthy, balanced meals, meal/snack ideas, and meal planning

What is wellness coaching?

Wellness coaching provides a supportive guide to help you set health and wellness goals, whether you wish to lose weight, increase your energy, better manage stress, or much more. In addition to being a mentor who holds you accountable and provide motivation, I will provide strategies and tools adapted to your needs, and together we will develop an individualized plan to support your shift toward better health and improved quality of life.

Who needs a wellness coach?

Health coaching is for everyone. No matter your current health status, we all have the desire to feel happy with our bodies, mentally content, fulfilled spiritually, and have the energy to perform all the daily activities that bring us joy. We all deserve an overall feeling of well-being and happiness. As you navigate your individual path to health and well-being, having a powerful support system and source of evidence-based information can be incredibly helpful.

What do I need to do to prepare for my coaching session?

Book the appointment and come to the session with a goal in mind. That’s about it! Wellness coaching is not a scripted process with a pre‐determined outcome. Each conversation is different, and the only thing you need to do as a client is to be willing to talk honestly about the obstacles in your life that are keeping you from achieving your health and wellness goals.

What will happen at a wellness coaching session?

The process of the coaching session is based entirely on the goal(s) you are interested in setting. My priority is to facilitate a discussion to understand why you chose to come to the session, the obstacles that are stopping you from achieving the desired goal, and mapping out a plan to achieve that goal in a healthy way. I may ask you to explain your goals, talk about different areas of your life to develop “the big picture,” and will guide the conversation to set goals around the desired health changes.

How many sessions are necessary?

That’s up to you. For some individuals, a series of sessions is helpful to work on their health goals. Similar to therapy, some may wish to work with me for a few sessions, several months, or even years. It’s all dependent on your goals and your individual needs. At least two follow-ups after the first session are suggested from the perspective of goal-setting and making progress, but again, it’s completely up to you.
